It’s been a pretty good season for Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins, but Monday’s finish in Philadelphia is something the talented pest would like to soon forget.
Needing to keep his team alive in the fifth round of the shootout, Marchand approached the puck with speed for his try … except he missed the puck almost entirely. Unfortunately for him he did get a piece of it, moving it a few inches and thus making the attempt official.
With the Flyers’ Travis Konecny having scored the lone goal of the shootout in the top of the fifth frame, Marchand’s flub ended the game with the puck still at center ice. The Flyers skated off with a 6-5 shootout win, with Marchand only being able to look on in disappointment.
